AAPN Member Pledge:
I pledge my commitment to the goals and values of the Alliance for Action on Pesticides in Nigeria (AAPN). By signing this pledge, I affirm my dedication to catalyzing positive change in Nigeria’s agricultural sector and combating the harmful effects of hazardous agrochemicals. I understand that by joining AAPN, I become part of a collective effort to promote sustainable farming practices and protect public health. Through collaboration, advocacy, and education, I vow to:
- Advocate for the prohibition and strict enforcement of laws regulating the import, manufacturing, trade, sale and use of banned and highly hazardous agrochemicals in Nigeria.
- Promote sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices that prioritize the health and well-being of farmers, consumers, and ecosystems.
- Support initiatives aimed at educating farmers, policymakers, and the public about the dangers of using banned and highly Hazardous agrochemicals and the benefits of adopting safer alternatives like agroecology.
- Collaborate with fellow alliance members, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective strategies for eliminating the use of highly hazardous agrochemicals in Nigeria.
- Actively participate in campaigns and advocacy efforts aimed at raising awareness about the harmful effects of banned agrochemicals, and mobilizing support for policy reforms.
- Hold accountable government, companies and individuals responsible for the production, distribution, and promotion of banned and highly hazardous agrochemicals, and demand justice for affected communities, and the ecosystem.
- Continuously strive to expand my knowledge and skills related to sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, and public health, and share this knowledge with others in my community.
- Uphold the principles of transparency, integrity, and inclusivity in all my interactions and activities as a member of the alliance.
